How to fix your Google street view image

November 13, 2014Blog

Since its launch in 2007 Google Street view has gone from strength to strength, now allowing you to visit almost any street in the world and even allowing you inside of some of the most popular buildings around the planet.

More and more people are starting to research the places that they are due to visit in advance and Google Street View gives them the perfect opportunity to do this.

Now imagine this, a potential client/customer has looked your business up online and is looking to visit your establishment. The problem… they were looking in the wrong place because the Google Street View images were wrong.

How bad is the street view image for SEO Nuts?

Based on the Street View image that is displayed for SEO Nuts our clients would have no idea where to find us as it’s facing the complete opposite way which can be very misleading.

Finding Your Street View

The first thing you need to do is find the maps listing for your business. They easiest way I have found to do this is to search on Google “Your Business Name” Address. This should then bring your map listing up on the right hand side of the page. If this does not happen you will have to find your business manually by typing in your post code on maps.

You now need to click on to your maps listing on the right hand side of the search page, this should now take you to a larger map that has a link to street view on the left hand side.

On this page you need to click onto the street view image on the top left hand side of the page. This may not actually be of your business but it should be in the same street or in the nearby area.

Changing The Image

The next step is actually changing the image, to do this you now need to click on “Report a problem” link at the bottom right hand side of the screen.

You will now be taken to a page where you can select the correct image for your business.

To do this you adjust the view of the image at the top of the page like you would in normal street view. When doing this make sure that you set the image to your establishment otherwise you may have to repeat all of these steps again.

You then need to scroll down the page and make sure that you check “There is a misplaces or misaligned navigation arrows”. If you choose one of the other options the image for your business may not get changed.

You will now be presented with a text box for you to justify your reason for wanting to change the image on the Street View Listing. We recommend that you write your own reason for changing the image but if you would like to use the one we used copy and paste the text below.

“The reason i have changed this street view image is because it was not giving an accurate representation of the location of our business”

You’re done! This could take a number of weeks to be changed as it has to be manually checked by a Google employee to make sure that you aren’t going to mess up the Street view images.
